Adoptive Mother Sued by Adoptees

Moving into an adoptive home is difficult for any child. While most adoptive parents are good people, there are some that should never have been allowed to take in children in the first place.

Such is the case of a New York woman that is now being sued by ten former adoptees. Even though these children were adopted over 15 years ago, it has taken that long for them to come together and build a case against her. What makes the case extra-heartbreaking is that all ten are disabled in some fashion.

The lawyers for the disabled adults have proposed a settlement. They are asking for $68 million not just from the woman but from the city of New York as well as the adoption agencies that placed them with her. The family law suit claims that the agencies should have done a better job monitoring the children and the home into which they were placed.
