Preacher Under Scrutiny for Divorce Comments

One famous TV evangelist has put himself in hot water by stating that a man whose wife is seriously ill with Alzheimer's should divorce her.

Last week the preacher answered a call from a guest about a husband whose wife had slipped deep into dementia. When asked what he should do, the Christian leader said that he could divorce her and start fresh as long as his ex was in the custody of someone who could properly care for her. This simple statement has enraged dozens of Christian leaders who are angry that this preacher has denounced the sanctity of marriage.

When asked whether this statement was consistent with the Bible's view of marriage of "until death do us part," the preacher responded that dementia was like a form of living death. Since the Christian religion is so strict on the rules of marriage, this preacher undoubtedly will be answering questions about his statement for a long time.
