Wife Blames Husband's Murder on Domestic Violence

While becoming a victim of domestic violence is terrifying in itself, testifying as to why you were forced to shoot your abusive husband is even worse.

A woman in New York spoke on the stand last week about the abusive episodes her husband, a former member of law enforcement, doled out on a regular basis. As a result, she spent years enduring physical and mental abuse at the hands of her husband. One day, after a particularly gruesome domestic violence incident, she took his two guns and started shooting him. When his body was examined by the coroner's office they retrieved a total of 11 slugs that had pierced his body.

While she painted a horrible tale of abuse, the prosecutor is not giving up that easily. The opposing side is now trying to convince the jury that she did not need to shoot her husband and painted a picture of possible insurance fraud.
