March Held to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence
A march was held in Poughkeepsie last week to raise awareness about the disturbing increase in domestic violence cases locally.
The march of 150 members began at the Family Partnership Center and went past City Hall. According to Leah Feldman, the Universal Response to Domestic Violence coordinator, an increase in domestic violence cases has been reported in both Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County. She added that: "It seems that domestic violence numbers are on the rise, instances are on the rise, severity of crimes are on the rise, we're seeing more gun violence, knife violence, and it doesn't seem that there is any one answer as to how to end the problem."
