Lawyer Loses License Over Misconduct during His Own Divorce Case
After being found guilty of misconduct during his own divorce case, a lawyer in Norfolk has had his legal license revoked as a result.
A three-judge panel discovered that Mark Kantro concealed $161,000 in income from his wife during their divorce proceedings. Kantro's lawyer, Allan Zaleski, reports that his client will seek an appeal in his case, especially since the punishment was for a personal case, not another client's case.
Court records show that Kantro received the sum of money in January 2005; he asked his mother to open an account under her name, and then stored the money there. As part of his divorce proceedings, as he well knew, Kantro was supposed to disclose that sum of money. For the two years during his divorce, he failed to do so. As a result, Kantro was found to have violated eight rules of conduct and had his license revoked. He may apply for reinstatement five years from now.
