Man Shot After Domestic Violence Incident

When officers discovered a man assaulting a woman in the northeast valley of Las Vegas, they shot and killed him.

According to the coroner"s report, 35-year-old Alberto Castillo died from multiple gunshot wounds. There were two officers involved in the shooting - Robert S. Thompson, 27, and Baudelio Gastelum, 26 - both of whom have worked for Metro several years. When they arrived on the scene at the 2900 block of Theresa Avenue, they were looking for a man reportedly attempting to stab a woman with a screwdriver.

They did find Castillo in the back of a house, physically assaulting a woman. Even though officers issued commands in both English and Spanish, Castillo did not stop his assaults. When he did not cease, they attempted to Taser him twice. Castillo then reached for the Taser, forcing the officers to withdraw their weapons.
