Getting a Prenup for Older Age Marriage

When you decide to get married at an older age, there are certain things you need to need to consider before doing so.

One of the most important things to consider before getting married is the issue of support. For example, should one partner enter the marriage with high medical and insurance bills, the other spouse will be expected to contribute financially to the bills. In cases where one spouse cannot afford coverage, the other spouse can and will be billed for the remaining expenses. In serious cases, the spouse can even be sued for unpaid funds accrued by the other.

If you want to avoid a situation like this arising in your future marriage, you may want to consider a prenuptial agreement. In such an agreement, you can ask your family law attorney to draft up a document stating that neither partner is responsible for the other financially, whether at all or in regards to certain items. The only time a prenuptial agreement will be ignored is if Medicaid is employed by both parties.
