Father in Jail Following Publicized Child Custody Case
After fighting in court for three years for his young daughter, an Ohio man now finds himself visiting court for a different reason: the theft of food stamps.
According to court documents Benjamin Mills Jr. has been fighting to get his daughter, Vanessa, back from her foster mother. Stacey Doss lives in Ohio with the toddler, and has been serious about her plans to keep the young girl. An agreement made in March outlined their new plan of child custody, in which Doss would retain her full custody rights, but would not file for adoption anymore.
After coming to this agreement with Doss, Mills is now begging the judge to not send him to jail. It is unsure how the judge will rule in this case, as Mills has already been sentenced to one year for pleading no contest to two counts of theft by deception and one count of theft.
