Prisoners Partake in Course to Become Better Husbands and Fathers

A group of family and friends gathered at Sing Sing this week to congratulate 50 inmates.

The prison held a graduation ceremony for those inmates that had participated in a course designed to help them become better husbands and fathers. The men were given certificates to show that they have successfully completed the course that discussed a variety of topics, including what a healthy relationship is and how to be a better parent.

One of the graduates spoke about his experiences in the classes, saying that they gave the inmates "an opportunity to educate ourselves about our children's development and to take steps to fix the broken bonds" that often exist between child and parent. These classes were developed by and offered through the Osborne Association, a group that works to help inmates reenter society after imprisonment.
