Young Man Arrested in Domestic Violence Case

Another young man is arrested for domestic violence, this time in Walton County. The Sheriff's Office issued a statement today announcing the arrest of 25-year-old Dwayne Russell of DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Officers were called to the residence of Russell's sister at 320 E. Tedder Rd in DeFuniak Springs around 4:45 p.m. Russell, who has been suspected of felony battery of his sister, had already fled the scene. Once they spoke with the victim members of the Walton County Correctional Institution canine team and WCSO deputies were dispatched to locate him.

Their search finally led them to Florala, Alabama. where he was taken in by the Florala Police Department and taken to the Covington County Jail. There he was charged with grand theft and domestic battery by strangulation which are both third-degree felonies. Luckily for investigators on his case Russell was arrested wearing the shoes with a similar tread pattern found at both crime scenes.

Also guilty in this scenario is his mother, Nancy Russell, who knowingly transported a criminal suspect to her home in Florala.
