Millionaire Refuses to Pay Child Support

A man known for being a local millionaire is now known under a different title: deadbeat dad. The wealthy dad was sentenced this week to almost six months behind bars for failing to make child support payments.

According to the case brought against the man by the prosecution, he owes nearly $10 million in back support. It has been a long and difficult case for the family of the ex-wife. While she has moved on to another state, her twin sister has been present at all of his trial dates on her behalf. The man seemed willing to make his payments on time during the first court appearances, but when he started to miss appearances the family began to worry once again.

His own attorneys tried to convince the judge that he did not actually have any wealth of his own. Their stories must not have been convincing enough since the judge sentenced him to not only jail time but to start making payments while he is behind bars.

If you are owed child support and need help collecting payments, contact a Long Island child support attorney from our law office who can help. When you work with a Long Island family lawyer, you can expedite the process and get the financial support you need to provide for your child.
