Woman Missing Amidst Alimony Battle
Police don't think it is a coincidence that a missing woman was in the middle of an alimony battle with her ex-husband.
According to a Maryland police department, which has been cooperating with police in Aruba where the woman was last seen, the spouses had been divorced since May 2009. At the time of their divorce, they had agreed to an alimony schedule for 36 months, wherein the husband would pay $2,000 each month, in addition to two lump sums worth $15,000. Yet, earlier this year, the husband claimed that he could not make the payments as scheduled and petitioned a court in Maryland to alter the payment schedule.
Due to sudden unemployment, the husband was unable to maintain his payments as scheduled, forcing him to not only become late on mortgage payments, but alimony payments as well. The two were due back in court in October to discuss the modification, but the court date will be put on hold until the ex-wife has been located.
