Horror Film Director Makes Paternity Fraud Allegations
In New York, Andrew Douglas, a well-known horror film director, says that he was duped by his ex-wife who tricked him into believing he had fathered her daughter. In a recently filed lawsuit, Douglas is asking that the woman, Ameena Meer, pay him $700,000. It is the amount he claims he paid in child support over the past 17 years.
According to court documents filed in the state Supreme Court, Douglas said he began to suspect that he was not the child's biological father last summer when the girl had asked about his blood type. He claims a paternity test later confirmed his suspicions.
However, Meer contends that Douglas' accusations are not true. Meer is the writer and the two married in 1992. One year later, Meer gave birth to their supposed daughter. The couple parted ways shortly after.
Douglas' work includes the remake of "The Amityville Horror", a film made in 1979.
