The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a man who was allegedly stealing air conditioners to get child custody of his daughters has been arrested after a woman witnessed the man entering a vacant house to perform the theft.
The man in question, 31-year-old Michael Tsagarakis, was apprehended while on Laredo Drive in Deltona as he attempted to remove the air conditioner from a house window. Tsagarakis was also arrested on two counts of grand theft and another count of probation violation from an earlier case in which he stole and tried to sell motorcycle parts to a local scrap yard.
Also being investigated by deputies is Tsagarakis' girlfriend and what role she played in the scheme. Police allege that a recently stolen air conditioner was found in a Deltona home where Tsagarakis' girlfriend was waiting for him. Police believe that she drove a truck used to carry the stolen machines.
