Man Faces Restraining Order After Making Comment on Social Network

Be careful what you tweet about as it may land you a restraining order. Arizona student Steve Russell, 22, learned this firsthand after he posted a comment stating that he would like to punch Maricopa County Judge Ward Connerly in the face if he saw him. The judge took this as a personal threat and issued a restraining order against Russell that orders him to stay at least 100 feet away from him.

The interim Executive Director for the Arizona Student's Association, Robyn Nebrich, where Russell is an intern, stated that this was simply a bad joke. She stated that "He didn't realize the implications of what he was saying. Steve really regrets doing it. He is definitely learning from the experience." However, a threat is a threat and Judge Connerly took advantge of his legal position to quickly draft up a restraining order.

If a member of your family has gotten into trouble using social media, it is time to enlist the services of a Long Island family law attorney who can help.  Contact the Meyers Law Group to get advice and representation from a family lawyer.
