He then dragged her around their apartment, injuring her neck and causing her to gage.
The girls' brother, who is 13 years old, tried to intervene. However, he was struck with a hockey stick by Hawkins. It is reported that Hawkins tackled the boy, punched him in the face a few times and then smashed the boy's Xbox video game.
After assaulting the kids, Hawkins went upstairs to where their mother ways and proceeded to verbally abuse her. As he was yelling, the 13 year old went upstairs with a knife, but Hawkins took the knife from him and cut his eye. At that time, the girl was able to call 911 for help.
Hawkins was placed under arrest and booked into Walsh County Jail. He was charged with six felonies including aggravated assault.
