Red High Heels to Combat Domestic Violence

In order to raise awareness for the Willow Domestic Violence Center, some famous men are proudly wearing red high heels. Bill Self, basketball coach for Kansas State and Scot Pollard of Jayhawks fame are wearing stilettos for the 2011 Red Shoe calender. This calendar raises awareness about domestic violence and also supports fundraising efforts for the center.

Pollard was proud to be the cover boy for the calendar, a task that involved wearing size 18 shoes. The basketball coach and the owner of The Salty Iguana will be the men of March.

The theme for the calendar, as explained by Sally Hare-Schriner, the fundraising chairwoman for the center, is that you need to walk a mile in someone's shoes to better understand their life and issues.

Have you or someone you love recently become the victim of domestic violence? While this can be a deeply embarrassing and emotional time, you shouldn't hesitate to contact a Long Island family law attorney now. With the strength of the law to support you, it is possible to get the protection you need against the person who has hurt you.
